Meet Lauren
Hi, I'm Lauren - welcome to The Petal Cove.
Before becoming a full-time artist, I worked as a makeup artist and skincare consultant, spending my days helping people feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. Creativity has always been part of my life, but painting quietly slipped into the background for a while - until I rediscovered it in my mid-twenties and fell completely in love with it all over again.
I began painting in 2019 as a creative escape, never imagining it would grow into something so meaningful. What started as quiet evenings with a brush and a cup of coffee quickly became a true passion - a way to slow down, breathe, and capture the gentle beauty of the world around me. My work is inspired by flowers, nature, and anything that makes me pause and think, "ooh, that's pretty." I'm endlessly drawn to delicate petals, soft colour palettes, and the quiet symbolism hidden within different blooms.
Many of my pieces are created to feel calm, romantic, and timeless - little pockets of softness you can bring into your home. You'll usually find me painting surrounded by half-finished pieces, sketchbooks filled with botanical doodles, and far too many rolls of washi tape. My happy place is a messy desk, a palette of colour, and that peaceful moment when everything else fades away and it's just a brush to paper.
I work mainly in watercolour and gouache on quality watercolour paper, building layers slowly to create soft texture and vibrant colour. Each piece is painted by hand with care - from original artworks and commissions to delicate floral collections inspired by nature's quiet beauty. I especially love creating art that celebrates meaningful moments or simply brings a sense of calm and joy into everyday life.
The Petal Cove grew from a desire to share that feeling with others - a gentle, welcoming space filled with dreamy florals, thoughtful details, and art made with heart. Thank you for being here, for supporting independent artists, and for allowing my paintings to become part of your story.
